MGBEREOMA ODUENYI WAYO is a Barrister and Solicitor to the Supreme Court of Nigeria who was called to the Nigerian Bar in the year 1999. She is currently a Notary Public and a Capital Market Consultant (Compliance Officer) registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Roma worked with the firm of Messrs. Kehinde Sofola & Co. for a few years before joining the firm of Shinaba, Ogon & Co. where she is currently a Partner. She has extreme experience in all aspects of Litigation and Corporate practice. Roma has engaged in litigating various matters covering several areas of law at all levels of courts in Nigeria and has rendered legal advice on most aspects of Intellectual Property matters as well as in other areas of Commercial Law.

In the course of her practice, she has advised on major transactions such as due diligence in respect of the merger between former Citizens International Bank and Guardian Express Bank PLC, ACB International Bank PLC, Omega Bank PLC, Fountain Trust Bank PLC, and Trans International Bank PLC. She also worked in the team of Solicitors to the issue in the Cross River State Government Bond Issue.

She has worked as an External Solicitor to Insurance Companies such as UNIC Insurance PLC; Banks such as Union Bank of Nigeria, GT Bank, and Telecommunication companies, e.g. MTN Nigeria Ltd. at various times.

She is also engaged in other legal works which include the provision of Legal and Advisory Services on matters of Board and Shareholders’ Meetings, Filing of requisite Returns at the relevant Regulatory Agencies and Social Responsibility issues and general prosecution of Trademarks, Patents, and Designs, etc.
